See Studio was set up and is run by Daren Ellis. Having already worked for The Face, Arena, Homme+ and Dazed magazines, he founded See Studio in 2001 when he became co-founder and art director for 10 magazine. Since then, as See Studio, he has gone on to work on numerous prestigious projects such as art directing and launching Big, Tate, and Disegno magazines, and picking up along the way several awards for his work which has been reproduced and praised in the critical media. He currently art directs Baku magazine for Conde Nast.
As well as See Studios work in the magazine publishing industry, it has also established itself as a developer of brand, packaging and print design. Longstanding clients of the studio for whom it provides these services include London Fashion Week, LeBook and Conde Nast.
Working in these particular areas has taken See Studio into the luxury brand market in which it is fast gaining a reputation for excellence and imagination. Projects have included a newspaper launch for Selfridges, and art directing a biannual magazine for Swarovski Rocks. It has also created brand identities for luxury leather goods maker Tanner Krolle and Japanese fashion house Tsumori Chisato. The high-end fashion industry is now an environment in which See Studios experience and skills are being seen to increasingly develop.
As a parallel activity, but one that is increasingly coming to inf luence the studios core work, See Studio has also been involved in art curation. With its programme of exhibitions designed and organised in close collaboration with the artists and photographers, as well publishing the accompanying catalogues and books, the studio is bringing to it mainstream activities a unique style and interest.
